Mrs Julie Blackburn (ACT)

Ambassador

Julie Blackburn was the National Convenor of Defence Families of Australia appointed in January 2010, serving her term until 2014. DFA is ministerially appointed by the Minister responsible for Defence Personnel to provide

direct feedback to Government and the Chief of Defence Force on the needs of the Australian Defence Family, to ensure awareness and consideration to the family needs of ADF members. Julie is also a member of the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on ex-service matters.

In addition to work with DFA and Defence, Julie is a registered nurse and midwife, and conducts training programs to health professionals and family members focused on strengthening family relationships. She is a Director of Defence Health Limited, a not-for-profit private health insurance company, and the Defence Health Foundation.

Julie is a married to a serving member of the RAN, and resides in Canberra with their three children.
